Shopify for Nonprofits: special pricing available.
Shopify offers plans to registered nonprofits that are not listed on its pricing page. We help you find out whether your organization qualifies and get the request in correctly, then build the store that runs on it: memberships, program fees, events, plant sales and merchandise in a single checkout your staff can operate. The complicated part is ours. You should not have to become an eCommerce expert to sell what you already sell.
Conservancies, museums, gardens, associations and community organizations that earn revenue alongside what they raise.
Shopify, including its nonprofit plans. One catalog, one checkout, one customer record across every program you sell.
Shopify has nonprofit plans it does not list publicly. Ask us and we will walk you through the current terms.
Salesforce and other donor databases stay the system of record. Nothing about your donors moves until the sync is designed and tested.
Most nonprofit revenue still arrives as a form and a follow-up.
Someone fills out an inquiry. A staff member checks whether they qualify, then emails a second form with a payment link. Half the people never come back, and the half who do land in a spreadsheet nobody owns. Everything here replaces a step your team is doing by hand.
Programs and services
Assessments, consultations, classes, site visits and workshops sold as products, with the intake questions asked at checkout instead of in a follow-up email.
Eligibility rules
Service areas, member-only pricing, district boundaries and subsidized rates applied at purchase, so staff stop screening buyers one at a time.
Memberships and recurring gifts
Renewals, tiers, member pricing and monthly giving on Shopify's subscription tooling, with lapse and renewal reporting your board can read.
Events and tickets
Registrations, workshops, tours and fundraisers sold from the same cart as everything else, with attendee lists your staff can pull themselves.
Seasonal and in-person sales
Native plant sales, book shops and merchandise, with pre-orders, pickup days, and Shopify POS at the table so one inventory covers online and in person.
Donor systems and integration
Orders, contacts and gift records moved into Salesforce or the donor database you run, mapped and tested before anything is switched over.
Fulfillment partners
An apparel or print partner who already handles your gear keeps doing it. We connect what should connect and leave what works alone.
Staff who are not eCommerce staff
Your team owns the store when we leave: written runbooks, a training session per role, and product setup a program manager can repeat.
Shopify has nonprofit plans. They are not on the pricing page.
Registered nonprofits can run on plans Shopify does not list publicly, at a lower ongoing cost than the standard plans and with capabilities normally reserved for higher tiers. Shopify sets the terms and decides who qualifies. Our part is making sure the request goes in once, correctly, at the right point in your setup, and that the store is built to take advantage of what the plan includes.
Who qualifies
Organizations that are legally registered as nonprofits and can document it. Shopify verifies status, not us, and accepting donations through Shopify Payments requires registered charity status in the United States or Canada.
How it is requested
The request comes from your store's account owner, after the store is set up and a billing method is on file. Worth deciding early who holds that role inside your organization.
What we will tell you
The current terms, in plain language, on a call. Shopify updates them from time to time, so we would rather give you what is true this week than publish something that ages badly.
What we hear from executive directors and program staff.
If some of these sound like your last board meeting, you are in familiar company. Each one has a way through, and most of them start with the programs and the people you already have.
“Every sale passes through somebody's inbox before the money moves.”
“Grant funding is less certain than it was, and earned revenue is the plan.”
“We take payment in four places and reconcile them by hand.”
“Our merch store lives on somebody else's website and we never see who bought.”
“The plant sale is a spreadsheet, a folding table and a very long Saturday.”
“Whoever built the website left, and now nobody touches it.”
“Everything has to end up in Salesforce or development will not sign off.”
“We cannot add staff, so the system has to absorb the work.”
Organizations with a mission and a price list.
You do not have to be a retailer to need commerce. If people already pay you for something, the store is mostly a matter of making that easy, countable and repeatable.
Land and water conservancies
Property assessments, native plants, restoration services and memberships, often limited to a defined service area.
Museums, gardens and historical societies
Admission, tours, classes, shops and member pricing, with a gift shop that has to work in the building and online.
Associations and membership organizations
Dues, chapter pricing, certifications, conferences and publications, renewed on a calendar your staff does not want to chase.
Food, farm and community organizations
CSA shares, workshops, equipment, seedlings and community sales, with pickup windows and volunteer-friendly checkout.
You will not have to become an eCommerce expert.
Platform rules, tax settings, payment gateways, donor data mapping, seasonal inventory. Every one of those is a decision somebody has to make well. Our job is to make them, explain the ones that affect you, and leave the rest off your desk. Behind the scenes a build runs through the same nine stages we use for manufacturers and distributors, with the weight inside each one set by your programs and quoted before development starts, so your board approves a number that does not move. From your side it looks like three things.
We learn how you sell today
A working session with the people who run your programs. What you sell, who qualifies, what your donor system needs, and where staff time disappears. You leave with a written plan, phased and costed, and it is yours whether or not you hire us.
We build it and prove it
Your store, your rules and your integrations, tested by your own staff on real programs before a supporter ever sees it. You review the parts that need your judgment. We handle the parts that need ours.
We hand it over and stay close
Written runbooks, training for each role, and a team that can add the next program without calling anyone. We stay through your first full season, because that is the one that matters.
Start with a conversation, not a proposal.
You will be talking with someone who has built and run commerce operations for years, not a salesperson working from a script. Bring the program you currently sell by hand. You will leave knowing what it would take to put it online, whether Shopify's nonprofit pricing fits your organization, and what we would do first. That is worth your time whether or not you ever hire us.
