Marketing and demand generation, built for the way you already sell.

Strategy, brand, web, search and AI visibility, paid media, email, social and HubSpot, delivered under one accountable firm and connected to the site, the collateral and the sales plays so your team sells with the marketing instead of around it.

Posture

Marketing exists to sell product, and everything we make is built to help your team do that.

Scope

Scoped per engagement, in writing, before anything starts, so you always know what you are getting.

Reader

Written for buyers who have been in the industry for thirty years and value plain, useful information.

Sellers

Every campaign is built so a rep knows what it said before the phone rings.

Why marketing lives here

Marketing works best when it starts with how you sell.

The storefront, the collateral and the campaign work best as one project. When they are built separately, the reps meet all three for the first time at launch, and the story does not match what they say on the phone.

Portage runs marketing as part of the seller approach. The go-to-market strategy, the eCommerce site, the sales collateral and the sales plays are built together, so the team sells with the site and the campaign. When everything tells the same story, customers hear it from the site, the email and the rep, and it sticks.

A senior operator leads every engagement from the first conversation, and you talk to that same person throughout.

How we work

What you get

The full range, without the department.

Each of these is a scoped deliverable or a running program with a named owner on your side. Take what you need.

Strategy and positioning

Who you are selling to, what they already believe, and the one argument that moves them. A plan one team can keep.

Brand and design

Identity, guidelines, line cards, spec sheets, trade show pieces and the offering sheet your reps hand across a table.

Web on WordPress and HubSpot CMS

Marketing sites for companies whose commerce runs elsewhere, or who are not ready for commerce yet. Structured for search engines, answer engines and your own editors.

Search and AI visibility

SEO and answer-engine optimization. Written answer-first, because that is what humans skim for and what assistants lift.

Paid media

Search, social and trade placements, planned against the buyer list and the sales plays. Media spend is yours and billed to you directly.

Email, social and HubSpot

Customer and prospect programs that give the reader something useful before they ask for anything, on a CRM your reps will actually fill in.

Who this is for

Companies with a product worth selling and a story nobody has written down.

The common shape: a manufacturer or distributor that grew on relationships, has a website from 2016 and a line card from 2012, and knows it has a better story to tell.

Manufacturers going direct or adding dealers

A new channel needs a message the existing channel can get behind. We write both and sequence them.

Distributors launching self-serve

The portal is built, and now customers and reps need a reason to use it. We give your reps the story, the materials and the confidence to bring their customers onto it.

Expansion clients

When the brief says go, this is the practice that produces the demand against it, with the prospect list already in hand.

Brands selling both ways

A consumer voice and a wholesale voice on one catalog, each clear about who it is for.

Services

Seven services, scoped per engagement.

Marketing is scoped from the work in front of us and quoted before it starts. Some of it is a fixed deliverable. Some of it is a running program with a stated cadence and a stated end. Either way you know what you are buying before you buy it.

Marketing strategy and positioning

Scoped per engagement
Who you are selling to, what they already believe, and the one argument that moves them. Positioning, messaging, channel plan and a calendar one team can keep. Built to connect to the sales plays, not to sit beside them.
You leave with a written plan your team and any agency you hire can execute from.

Brand and design

Scoped per engagement
Identity, guidelines, collateral and sales materials. Line cards, spec sheets, trade show pieces and the offering sheet your reps hand across a table. Plain, durable and built to last longer than a trend.
You leave with a brand system and the files to use it, owned by you.

Web on WordPress and HubSpot CMS

Scoped per engagement
Marketing sites on WordPress or HubSpot CMS, for companies whose commerce lives on Shopify or Adobe Commerce, or who do not sell online yet. Structured so search engines and answer engines can read them, and so your own team can edit them.
You leave with a site your team can maintain, with the content structured for search and for AI assistants.

Search and AI visibility

Scoped per engagement
Technical and content SEO, plus optimization for the assistants and answer engines your buyers now ask first. Product and catalog data structured so a machine can read it. Written answer-first, because that is what both humans and assistants lift.
You leave with a measured baseline, a prioritized plan, and content that answers the questions your buyers ask.

Paid media

Scoped per engagement
Search, social and trade placements. Planned against the buyer list and the sales plays so a rep knows what the ad said before the call. Media spend is yours and billed to you directly.
You leave with campaigns with a stated purpose, a budget and a reporting cadence you can read in ten minutes.

Email and social

Scoped per engagement
Email programs for customers and prospects, and a social presence that reads as a real firm rather than a feed. The rule on every send: if the reader gets only the first sentence and never replies, they should still be better off.
You leave with a running program with a calendar, templates and a named owner on your side.

HubSpot setup and optimization

Scoped per engagement
CRM, marketing and sales hub setup or cleanup. Pipelines that match how you actually sell, properties your reps will fill in, and reporting an owner will read. Connected to the storefront where it helps.
You leave with a HubSpot instance your team uses, documented, with the integrations that matter and none that do not.

Not included

  • Media spend, paid to the platforms directly
  • HubSpot, WordPress hosting and tool licensing
  • Stock photography and paid data
  • Event fees, sponsorships and booth costs

How it is priced

Scoped per engagement. A marketing program is described in writing with its deliverables, cadence and end date before it begins. If you want a number before a conversation, talk to an expert and you will have one within a week of it.

Our standards

Every campaign runs against a clear strategy, and every claim in your marketing is one you could stand behind in front of a customer who has known you for twenty years.

Questions

What comes up on the first call.

Is Portage a marketing agency now?

Portage is a full-service eCommerce agency, and marketing is one of its three practices. The order matters. We lead with the commerce and the strategy because marketing without a product a buyer can actually order is noise. When a client needs the marketing, it is held to the same standard as the other two practices.

What does AI optimization mean here?

Making sure that when a buyer asks an assistant a question you should be the answer to, you are the answer. In practice that is content written answer-first, structured data on your pages and products, and catalog data a machine can read. It is the same discipline as search engine optimization with a stricter editor.

Why is there no price on this page?

Because marketing is scoped per engagement and a number without a scope would be a guess. Every engagement is described in writing with deliverables, cadence and an end date before it starts. If you want a number quickly, a conversation is the fastest way to one.

Do you do B2C and D2C marketing?

Yes. We lead with B2B, and the same team runs consumer programs. A brand selling both ways is one of the shapes we see most.

Who does the work?

A senior US operator leads every engagement and is your one point of contact. They work with AI first and bring in specialists from our long-standing partners where the work calls for it. The strategy that opened the engagement is the one the team executes against.

Can you work with our existing agency?

Yes, and often that is the best answer. If you already have a firm producing good work, we will say so and scope only what is missing, which is usually the connection between the marketing and the sales plays.

Start with a conversation about your customers and your story. We will listen, share what we have seen work, and map where marketing can help first, including when your current agency should keep the work.
